The Aquarium Created By Two
Happened when asked her what's wrong
Her smile was upside down
A face that craved to scream
As her lips didn't dream of kissing me
And her eyes ready to colorlessly bleed.
Something was weighing her mind.
.
.
It started when all I could was to hear saddening symphonies
And all she did was to express like a black cloud DYING to rain and disappear.
She poured her pain onto the air we breathed in
An unwelcoming guest called "conflict" we needed to murder.
She needed a hug,
I gave her one
although she believed she never wanted it.
I didn't care who's the one at fault here—me or her but with denial grabbing onto her,
All I wanted was for us to cover scars by band-aids and be happy again.
Because this aquarium has now been pierced and water is leaking in
Two palms are needed to fill the holes and prevent us from flooding away.
And I can't do it by myself when I'm using one to hold your hand
As we promised the other day to lock our warm palms in and throw the key away.
So instead of proving you're innocent with harsh words and tilted brows
Maybe help us survive and remind us we love each other's flaws.
About this poem
A relationship is no game. It takes building and dedication to live in one. The rain might come, and it can flood your home, so maybe instead of empowering the rain, maybe it's time to draw the interior sea, far far away. Talk to one another on how something bothers you, slay the dragons who dare to burn your happiness with their flaming breathes.
