A Distant Dream
A little boy—with a smile as bright as the sun herself,
Was running rapidly amid the woods.
He was running as if a bear was chasing him
Or as if trees had grown limbs or murderous jaws
And they were chasing him with a hunger in their empty eyes.
Yet, fortunately none of these terrors were hunting him down
And he was just sprinting swiftly
Because he was free
And so was the little heart that lied within his chest.
As he was flying on the ground,
His right leg stuck on a tree's root and he brutally collapsed down.
His eyes were shut and only witnessed the fearsome darkness.
Seconds passed, or minutes...Or even hours?
I really couldn't tell.
He slowly opened his eyelids and gave room to the light.
He took a look upon what surrounded him,
It didn't feel real or earthly at all.
The sky was a dress with constellations and planets written on it,
And it had a charming splash of colors to it, violet and blue.
He felt euphoric and mesmerized by the heavenly sight that he woke up on;
With sparkling eyes and a face as open as a well blossomed flower,
He said to himself : "If only...this...was real.
If only the sky was always in her best dress
And this delightful blend of lilac and indigo."
If only the world he lived in could caress his eyes or soul like this or,
If only he could live here forever.
While lost in admiration,
he slowly realized his vision is getting blurry
And he's losing consciousness and the control of his limbs.
He, once again met the void we call the darkness and then...
He slowly opened his eyes again and the darkness faded away.
There was no mistake, he woke up in the forest that earlier welcomed him, again.
About this poem
This poem(or rather a story) has powerful symbolic traits to it. The book's cover suggest nothing but a collection of beautiful images given by the writer like a bouquet of flowers. Yet there seems that this story tries to tell us something, or potentially teach us something; It worths the pondering.
