The Crow At My Door
A crow comes cawing at my door,
A shadow cast upon the floor.
Its eyes are cold, its feathers black,
A warning draped across its back.
I know too well the tales they say,
The omen dark it brings my way.
But I won’t heed its call, not now,
I’ll chase it off, I’ll not allow.
“Begone!” I cry, “you’ll not stay here,
Your song of dread I do not fear.”
I clap, I shout, I stomp the ground,
But still it lingers circling round.
The air grows thick, the winds start slow,
But I won’t let this omen grow.
Today’s not the day for doom to creep,
So fly away, let silence keep.
With one last cry, it flaps, it soars,
I slam the latch and lock the doors.
The night may come with shadows deep,
But I’ll chase away what dares to creep.
