Going Out of my Mind - Not Remembering Yesterday
I lost a day, I don't know how,
Just as well, I found my cow.
Isn't that just how it goes?
One just never knows.
I lose one thing, to find another,
It's too bad, I can't find my brother.
He's lost somewhere, I haven't a clue,
This makes me so sad and blue.
Losing a day sure isn't fun,
Can't remember what I had done.
Did I sleep sound, was I almost dead?
Did I fall out of bed and hit my head?
I just can't remember where yesterday went!
I think I ate fish, I don't know, was it Lent?
Oh well, I better move on, no matter,
Maybe I ate too much ice cream, now I'm fatter.
Nope, I didn't gain an ounce or a pound,
Sure, as I'm standing on the ground.
Or am I?
I want to cry.
Am I going crazy, or am I just dreaming?
The sun's out, it's beautifully gleaming.
The window is open, the sun's shining bright,
I'll put my pants on, oh, they're a bit too tight.
I ate too much, now I know,
Overnight I did grow?
I guess I'll never know where yesterday went,
I'm going to believe it was Friday, after Lent!
So, up and at'em, the Lord gave me another day,
Smile pretty, thank you, Lord, I must say.
For a new day has dawned that I can enjoy,
Forget yesterday, it's gone, now jump for joy!
Enjoy the beauty this day will bring,
Listen now, you can hear the birds sing.
How beautiful they sound,
Another day of life, they sure found!
So now, I'll gather my thoughts for this day,
I'll eat breakfast, then go on my way.
With this new day, the Lord did give.
Just so I may enjoy, play, and until life's ending, live.
About this poem
When we age, are memories start to disappear at times, and we see it as forgetfulness. It's all in apart of aging. As I age, I too have these bouts, (Maybe not as bad as this poem but it's there) and I have learned to brush it off and carry on. It is just the way God meant us to be.
