Waves

I wish it was that simple

My feet cold against the waves

The motions calm and the breeze euphoric

A place to be
Where these horrid thoughts can’t reach me

Instead I am here

Being pulled repetitively inside a tidal wave

Tethered to an ocean
As if an anchor has been chained to every part of me

Numb to the touch of things

My senses dulled

This ocean is a mural of tragedies

Illuminating the emptiness surrounding every inch of me

It feels as though I’ve been in these depths far longer than eternity

Had I just stayed within the current

These thoughts would not be so enticing to say the least

There never will be comfort in this uncharted sea

I wish it was that simple

To be above the surface where oxygen is at its finest

Where the sun burns and the sand tickles my feet

My thoughts as clear as the air within my lungs

Instead here I am

Drowning so effortlessly

All because I let these waves come and pull me under
….
