Poverty Dog

He is a stray who does not play;
His hunger he can't thwart!
He tends to roam without a home
And yet he does comport.

Some folks harass if he should pass
By them as they walk near.
But most ignore and close the door;
Their heart just disappears.

"He's no concern of mine.  I yearn
To never see such need."
Some people say and walk away.
From those in poverty!
