Edge Of Yesterday (rhyme version)

Edge Of Yesterday (rhyme version)

I stand upon the edge of yesterday,
Where echoes of your laughter stay.
I pass your room—so cold, so still,
A hollow space time cannot fill.

I fed you there with tender hands,
Met your wishes, met demands.
Through scorching sun, I’d chase your call,
Now silence lingers—worst of all.

No one gave me space to cry,
No whispered words to ask me why.
Your sudden exit left me bare,
While others take, I gasp for air.

Awake feels like a prison tight,
Handcuffed tears in morning light.
A bad commercial, out of place,
In others’ eyes—a mere disgrace.

A stack of letters, torn and old,
Weeps for stories left untold.
Flashing lights bring back the pain,
Your final breath, like falling rain.

And when the world forgets your name,
I taste the echoes just the same.
A quiet love, a missing part,
Forever written in my heart.

Your poem beautifully captures the depth of grief and longing, weaving vivid imagery with raw emotion. The repetition of sensory details, silence, echoes, and fading memories, creates a haunting yet heartfelt tribute. A poignant reflection on loss and love that endures beyond time.

thank you so much for the observations and you’re quite right. I really try to get into whatever subject I’m writing about. It just so happens my mom died on September 21, 2024 and honestly, I haven’t really had time to grieve because of so much interference and disruption by people who want me to pay up for something. It’s been a struggle, but I’m finally coming to terms with mom’s passing so these poems pop up every once in a while.
