Running in this race

RUNNING IN THIS RACE

Told the story of Grace
As I ran in the race
And in everything
I pointed to the King

In my Faith I'd lean
Now my eyes have seen
The coming Glory
The Truth of His story

As I end the road I'm on
As I see the coming Dawn
Jesus let me see Your Face
Lord I. Gonna win this Race!

And it's Your Name on my lips
As Your Grace now eclipse
All my hopes and dreams
A single pearl now gleams

Grace is this
In case you miss
That I can even run
By the Name of the Son

Did you see the Cross?
Baring all our loss
Where the race began
Let us run there again

It is Finished! He'd spoken
All our chains were broken
By His Battered face
We're running now in Grace

Saint now open your eyes
Run now for the prize
That comes only by Grace
Running in this race
Amen

About this poem

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. 1 Corinthians 9:25-27

Your poem carries a strong sense of mystique and self-awareness, blending contrasts of heaven and hell, fullness and emptiness, secrecy and truth. The rhythm is natural, and the imagery is evocative, especially in the closing lines. Well written.
