Sleep Deprivation

I'm sure I was experiencing a
peaceful REM sleep
lost in a dream, ending abruptly
I remember a banging on the door
I heard someone yelling babble
he enjoyed his task too well
as if it were my demise
he came here to exterminate
perhaps I was considered prey
why does my head hurt so?
did someone club me in my sleep?
oh, I see the flashing lights now
every little sound startles me
my eardrums like gongs
my head providing caustic acoustics
the morning light is brilliant
my eyes can not adjust
as the migraine administers
