Dad by russ mckay

I remember riding on his shoulders
Later walking by his side
I'd hold his hand look up at him
Trying hard to match his stride

The biggest man I'd ever seen
'Though his height was less than mine
After I had fully grown
And age had curved his spine

He was always there before me
He always showed the way
The way he lived and the way he loved
Made the man I am today

Dads should be eternal
Always leading never done
But they only stay one lifetime
And we're given only one
